Ruché Armchair

Ruché is armchair by Inga Sempé for Ligne Roset. Structure made in solid beech wood, is available in both right and left.

Ruché is armchair with the fabric wrinkled or pleated combining the unusual and the traditional. The unusual with this solid wood frame, the great tradition of the quilt, the center of his know-how. The uprights and the undulations of lungolinea duvet, form a harmonious blend of rigorous straight lines and smooth curves, Ruché is warm and soft. The base is available in 3 finishes: matt lacquered beech natural or stained dark gray or red. The suspension of the seat is Pullmaflex, the suspension of the backrest is constructed with a steel grille mounted on springs while the suspension of the armrests is made with elastic belts.

Ruche Queen Bed

As with the Ruché seating, the Ruché bed is lifted from the ground by a simple, fine structure which supports a comfortable sleep platform. The headboard and frame are dressed with a distinctive quilting, a kind of boutis stitch of padding made using a cross-hatching of interrupted seams. Alternately flattened by the stitches then set free, the fabric ‘curls’ in places, giving rise both to its unique appearance and to its name, Ruché (a gathered or pleated fabric which serves as decoration on a piece of clothing). For Ligne Roset, Ruché also brings together the unusual and the traditional. The unusual thing about this piece is its solid wood structure, and the great traditional element: the quilting, the very heart of its savoir-faire. Its tall uprights and the undulations of its duvet combine to produce a harmonious union of rigorous straight lines and soft, welcoming curves.

Prado Sofa

17,730
Prado sofa, designed by Christian Werner for Ligne Roset, consists of a vast bench seat that can be combined and adjusted as desired and onto which back cushions may be placed at will, so that one can sit or lie down as they wish.
It offers complete freedom as these cushions, weighted and equipped with a non-slip system, do not need to be rested against or attached to any object for support. They could, therefore, be arranged on the floor for a few leisurely moments around a low table, while the seat (cushion) could double as an occasional bed simply with a flip of its seat cushion to expose a side covered with mattress ticking.

Magritta Chair

MAgriTTA is a sculpture-armchair, homage to Surrealism.
The green apple and the black bowler hat, recurrent figurative elements in the works of René Magritte, are assembled by the visionary imagination of Sebastián Matta into a new seat, realized in polyurethane foam and covered with cloth.
Playing with the unexpected association – an apple in a hat? – and with the dimensional estrangement – an apple which is as big as a hat or a hat which is a small as an apple? – Matta is able to translate the deception, the joke and the illusion of Magritte’s works into a design object.
The ABS hat works as the structure while the apple, made of soft polyurethane foam and upholstered with elastic cloth, becomes a comfortable and soft seat.

Another Green Cactus

The subject of several, free and often ambiguous interpretations, Cactus is the icon of Italian design that has revolutionized the domestic landscape, by subverting the borders between indoor area and open space. Cactus comes as an ironic totem, and embodies the grit, the imagination and the humour of the design of the Seventies. Likely to draw upon itself everybody’s attention, this hall-tree redeems itself from functionalism at all costs, because it can perform its function, but also be used as a merry decorative element. You have freedom of interpretation. Cactus comes to life in 1972 thanks to the genius of Guido Drocco and Franco Mello, and from the start it questions the static and rigid world of interior design.

Brera Writing Desk

In this collection, I wanted to design objects that were visually light, yet sturdy and well-made, taking great care with the choice of materials. The collection includes a desk, a console and a bench, objects that fit unobtrusively but inimitably in both home interiors and public spaces. I wanted streamlined, uncluttered shapes and, as Vico Magistretti said, to make a simple object that was also the most complicated thing in the world.

Pumpkin Armchair

For the very first time, Pierre Paulin’s 1971 design for seating for the private apartments of Claude & Georges Pompidou at the Elysée Palace is being put into large-scale production. Pumpkin is characteristic of Paulin’s revolutionary style, as initiated at the end of the 1950’s, and as its name suggests is evocative of a giant pumpkin, welcoming the user with its protectively voluptuous – and voluptuously protective – shell. Resisting its appeal is an impossibility!

Quaderna Console

The reduced Quaderna wall console is part of a furniture collection that the avant-garde design collective Superstudio designed for Zanotta between 1969 and 1972. This graphical solution attracted a lot of attention at the time. Today the collection includes the Quaderna bench, the Quaderna console and the dining table of the same name. By the way, the third picture shows the console in the Markanto Depot.
