Designed in 1954 as part of his scheme for the city of Chandigarh in India, the Projecteur 365 Suspended Lamp has a ruggedly nautical appearance. Measuring 34cm in height and 36cm in diameter, the reflector is made from aluminium treated with a selection of satin finishes, while the glass diffuser has a concave sandblasted inner surface to create a warm pool of illumination. The most striking element of the design, however, has to be the pivoting screws fastened with wing nuts securing the diffuser in place. An industrial feature transformed into an eye-catching adornment, its typical of Le Corbusier’s forward-thinking sensibility.

The Projecteur 365 Suspended Lamp was created by Le Corbusier for the manufacturer Nemo.
As well as commissioning work from top contemporary designers, this Milanese firm also issues key pieces by past masters in the field of interior décor. One such is Le Corbusier 1887-1965 . Born in Switzerland and based in France, he became one of the 20th century’s most important architects, evolving a rigorous style which drew on the purity of geometrical forms. Many of his large-scale projects are now UNESCO-listed landmarks and in 1997 he was granted the honour of appearing on the Swiss 10 franc note.
