Keglen 650 pendant

5,135

Louis Poulsen’s Keglen 650 pendant is part of a characteristic collection of luminaires created by Bjaerke Ingels Group’s BIG Ideas team lead by architect Jakob Lange. The Keglen lamps in different sizes all have the exact same structure, yet they each possess a personality of their own and a unique way of illuminating the space. The integrated, curved glass surface diffuses the light into an even, soft downward glow, while the open area at the top allows the light to be filtered upwards as well, creating ambience and balance. Perfect for both private and public spaces alike, the Keglen pendants look especially exciting grouped together into dynamic ensembles.

Patera Oval

The pendant is a glowing ellipsoid made up of diamond-shaped cells. Each cell has been carefully designed to capture light and to conceal the light source from viewing angles above 40 degrees. Below 40 degrees the lamp allows direct, downward light. The round opening underneath provides direct light with a soft transition towards the reflected light. The pendant can be used with or without a diffuser plate, depending on whether the view of the light source creates an unwanted glare or not.

P376 KF2

Jørgen Kastholm (1931-2007) and Preben Juhl Fabricius (1931-1984) were driven by a mutual mission to make form a pure derivative of function. Both were architects, graduating from the Danish School of Interior Design where they studied under Finn Juhl and subsequently with Arne Jacobsen. The P376 pendant lamp is a perfect example of Kastholm & Fabricius’ subtle architectural slant on design. Originally conceived in 1963, five concentric shades create gradations of curves towards the middle of the lamp to emit a soft, diffused light. The discrete placement of the shades and the silky aluminium finish culminate in a cohesive expression that’s both iconic and enthralling.

A rufflette is a thick strip of tape which is sewn to the top of curtains so they can be gathered, to which curtain hooks can be attached. With this suspended light by Marie-Christine Dorner, a tall rufflette is wrapped around the outer edges of the widest part of the shade and it is this which, by pleating the cotton chintz, enables regular pleats to be formed on its two slopes. A classic technique for a contemporary and very charming design. Shade in 100% cotton fabric, mounted on a rufflette like a curtain. May be taken apart for cleaning.

Diffuse lighting hanging appliance. The dome is a combination of luminous and dark elements arranged into a network and formed of core structures covered with a thin interwoven colourful tubular mesh made from recycled and recyclable fabric produced from polyester. Every single luminous element is powered by special micro-connectors located at the top of the dome and is covered with a two-tone mesh, while the side facing the inside of the dome is always white in order to allow for optimal light emission from the LED module. The appliance is fitted with a built-in balancing system at the top of the dome which helps adjust its balance, making it perfectly stable. The bottom of the dome is completed by an aluminium ring that keeps the dome’s entire network structure in place through a simple snap-fit system. The product is assembled with absolutely no glue so it can be fully separated to be recycled in the future and in case of any repairs or replacements.

PH 5 Monochrome pendant, pale rose

3,460

Louis Poulsen’s PH 5 Monochrome pendant gives the classic a fresh, contemporary twist with a matte finish. The elegant monochrome colour palette offers the luminaire an elegant look, emphasizing its unique design language.

Louis Poulsen’s PH 5 pendant light, designed by Poul Henningsen in 1958, is a Danish design icon that has gained immense global popularity. The pendant’s structure is both elegant and innovative: the beautiful, layered shades prevent glare and provide pleasant, warm-toned lighting in any room. The name of the pendant refers to its designer and the main shade’s 50-centimetre diameter. PH 5 pendant light is perfect above a dining table but also suits higher mounting in various architectural spaces.

PH 5 Monochrome Pendant Light Oyster Grey

3,460

Poul Henningsen developed the PH 5 in 1958 in response to constant changes made to the shape and size of incandescent bulbs by bulb manufacturers, naming it after
the size of the pendant’s main shade, which is 50 cm in diameter. When the lamp was introduced, he wrote, typically daringly, about how he had lost faith that the manufacturers of incandescent light bulbs would ever learn to consider common sense or have the consumer’s best interests at heart: “I have accepted fate, and with Louis Poulsen´s permission I have designed a PH fixture, which can be used with any kind of light source, Christmas lights and 100 W metal filament bulbs. Although a fluorescent tube would be too much to ask in the existing form!” Henningsen wanted to improve the colour reproduction characteristics of the light source in the PH 5. Small red and blue shades were therefore inserted to supplement the colour in the part of the spectrum where the eye is least sensitive the red and blue areas thereby subduing the light in the middle yellow green region where the eye is most sensitive. At the time, no one knew that the PH 5 would become synonymous with the PH light, which remains 100% glare free, irrespective of how the light is installed or which light source is used. The red and blue rings are however no longer necessary to achieve superior light quality, since today’s light sources reproduce daylight far better than in Henningsen’s time. Nonetheless, PH 5 continues to elevate even the most modern interiors in a range of colours today.

Papillion Opaque Pendant

2,728

Papillion pendant is part of a new perforated luminaire collection from the Danish brand 101 Copenhagen. The luminaire was designed by Copenhagen’s Kristian Sofus and Tommy Hynldahl, who were inspired by Mathieu Matégot’s way of working with sheet metal in a soft and organic way. Through experiments with mask size, light filtering and lighting, the designers decided to work with a fine mask perforated sheet. The characteristic lens shape gives the carbide surface a biological quality while simultaneously optimizing light scattering. Papillion refers to the French word for butterflies “PAPILLION”, which poetically plays on the floating lampshades as the focal point of the lamps. Papillion is in tree variants; Brass with perforated lampshades, oxidized with lampshades made of opaque glass and French rattan, colonial.

Margin Pendant Lamp Ø70

3,665

The Margin lighting family is designer John Asbury’s modern interpretation of a classic luminaire. Exploring a tiered typology for lighting, Margin’s intersecting shades gently diffuse the light and instantly set the tone with warmth and tactility. The softness of the fabric is tempered by a clean and graphic silhouette that lends a certain presence and volume to a space. It is the sense of proportions, along with details such as the linear element through the lamp, which sharpen the aesthetics and allow Margin’s special character to unfold.

In keeping with its foundations, Lambert & Fils Studio drew from the past to create Laurent, its most contemporary collection to date. The initial inspiration was Marianne Brandt’s classic milk globe, designed at the Bauhaus. The Laurent Collection distills the milk globe to its essential relationship between circle and sphere. A series of thin forms compliment the Laurent globes – forms that carve through space, moving between line, surface, and volume. These forms combine in endless patterns, making it possible for an installation of Laurent lamps to inhabit any space with subtlety and quiet strength.

LAURENT 09

While Bauhaus and Modernism continue to be familiar inspirations for the studio, with the Laurent collection, Lambert & Fils takes a distinctly contemporary tack. The studio distills a globe pendant’s duality between sphere and circle to its essence. In keeping with its commitment to working with local, skilled trades, the team called upon the expertise of a Quebec glass blower to craft this latest piece. An adjustable suspension system of wires and anchors allows the pendant’s final form to vary, from a pure, minimalist orb to something more intricate and Art Deco. “Our research focused on the surface and the form. Here, the globe acts as the link between the two,” says Samuel Lambert, the studio’s founder and lead designer. The different variations make it an apt lighting fixture for the home as well as for applications in the public realm where Laurent can really take on its fullest dimension through a rhythmic repetition.
